Harlon Simerly, 77, Hampton, went to be with his Lord Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Albert John & Stella Marie Street Simerly. He was retired from the Carter County Highway Department.. Harlon loved going to the car shows. He was a member of the Simerly Creek Believers Fellowship. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Linda Birchfield, three brothers: Norman, DC & Ed Simerly and a nephew: Brian Chambers.

Survivors include His Daughter & Son-In-Law: Kelli Lynn & Andy Montgomery, Elizabethton.  Four Grandchildren: Kaytie (Austin) Depew, Corbin Montgomery, Collin Montgomery and Caeden Montgomery. Two Great Grandchildren: Lincoln Depew and Harlo Depew. One Sister: Shelby Hughes. Three Brothers: Brooks Simerly (Sandy Gruhot), Nick Simerly (Betsy Rainbolt) all of Hampton and Gary (Jeanne) Simerly, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews.

A Service to Celebrate the Life of Harlon Simerly will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023 in the Simerly Creek Believers Fellowship Church with Pastor Jimmy Holtsclaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Simerly Cemetery. Music will be provided by the church. Active Pallbearers will be: Grandson Corbin Montgomery, Andy Montgomery, Gary Simerly, Brooks Simerly, Nick Simerly and Ronnie Breedan. Honorary Pallbearers will be: John Rainbolt, Robert Byrd, Jerry White, Bob Oliver, George Collins, John L. McKinney and his church family.
