Goldie Gertrude Lawson, 77, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, April 10, 2026 in the NHC, Johnson City. She was born August 2, 1948 in Johnson City to the late Orville and Temperance Hyder Markland. She was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. She was retired from the Dietary Department of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. She loved her Grandchildren, loved to shop loved dancing and going out to eat. Her favorite movie to watch with her grandchildren was “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”. She loved animals, especially her dogs, Binky, Buttons, BoBo and Rosie. She was very giving and would give anyone the shirt off her back. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers: Tom and Ricky Markland and her three sisters: Sandy Campbell, Sue Russell and Jane Williams.

Survivors include her husband; Donald Lawson. Her Children; Robert (Daphne) Britt, Billy (Deanna) Dykes and Karen (Michael) Johnson. Her Grandchildren; Cierra Buckalew, Brittany (Christopher) Robinson, Ashley Stockton Brittany (Cory) Phillips, Dylan (Kara) Anderson, Billy John Dykes III, Anna (Roman) Price, Sabrina Brown, Abigail Edens, Jayla Elliott, Robert Britt III. Her Great Grandchildren: Leland Poppin, Lexie Morris, Jaylon Hill, Sadie Cowan, Aubree Buckles, Aryona Phillips, Axel Phillips, Amelia Anderson, Rosie Brown, Carson Robinson, Kaylee Robinson, Piper Robinson, Katerina Dockery, and Aria Dockery. One Brother: Raymond (Pam) Markland.

Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2026 in The Mausoleum Chapel of Washington County Memory Gardens with Pastor Doug Hartley officiating. Active Pallbearers will be: Martel Oshel, Vincent Redd, Edward Doerr, Michael Johnson, Chris Robinson, Billy Dykes, Billy Dykes, Jr. and Elonza Perkins.
