Gereel Aldridge
Cable
Oct 13, 1932 — Jul 10, 2025
Elizabethton
Gereel Aldridge Cable
She rises while it is yet night
and provides food for her household
and portions for her maidens.
She considers a field and buys it,
with the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard. Prov. 31:15-16
Gereel Aldridge Cable, 92, Elizabethton, went to her heavenly home on July 10, 2025, where Jim, her husband of 65 years, was waiting on her. She was the daughter of Ross and Dovie Aldridge and was a life-long resident of Carter County.
She was an elementary teacher in Carter County for more than 42 years. She was a member of Rittertown Baptist Church in Hampton, Eastern Star, and Carter County Retired Teachers Association. She had served on the Board of Directors for the following Carter County organizations: Farm Service Agency, Soil Conservation District, Cattlemen's Association, and Farm Bureau.
In addition to being involved in many community and church activities, she and her husband raised cattle, tobacco, hay, and other products. Gereel found joy in growing her own food and cooking for her family and neighbors. She truly had a servant's heart and helped others in any way she could throughout her life.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Hoyt Aldridge, Monty Aldridge, Garrett Aldridge; and special nephew Keith Pate.
She is survived by daughters Carol Buckner (Brian) of Elizabethton and Teresa Brinkley (Bill) of Jonesborough; grandchildren Erin Brinkley, Whitney Roberts, Ben Brinkley (Kara); great-granddaughters Claire and Riley Brinkley; sister Mayme Smith; numerous beloved nieces, nephews and their children.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 14th 2025, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Elizabethton. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. presided by Rev. Richard Stout and Garry Smith. Graveside service and interment will follow at Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Rev. Greg Whitehead. Active pallbearers are Jim Aldridge, Tim Aldridge, Ben Brinkley, Bill Brinkley, Brian Buckner, Ken Dugger, Richard Dugger, Jerome Pate. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Cable, Jimmy Cable, Scotty Hayes, Michael Pate, Ethan Sparks, Adam Menyhay, Timothy Aldridge, and Farm Bureau staff members and directors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4255. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
