Gene Autry Hicks, 81, Hampton, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was the son of the late Charlie and Dollie Jordan Hicks. Gene was a Christmas Tree Grower. He was also in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He attended Hampton Christian Church. In addition to his parent, he was preceded in death by an infant son, William Gene Hicks and a grandson, Jason Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Lynn Kearley Hicks. His children: Tammy Lowman and Teresa Hicks of Lenoir, NC and Jasper Rash of Johnson City, step-daughter April Rash of the home. His grandchildren: Sierra Owens, Raylan Rash, Daisy Rash, Brianna Pierce and Jacob Hill. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jack Roddy and Mr. Dwayne Calhoun Minister officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Bill Anderson. Graveside Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday September 13, 2023 in Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section) Mr. Brian Wilson, Trumpeter will play at the cemetery. Military Honors will be provided. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home prior to the service.
