Obituary

Gary Brent Shingleton, 83, Hampton passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024 following an extended illness. He passed in the comfort of his home surrounded by family. A native of West Virginia, he was a son of the late Lloyd "Zeke" Shingleton & Zelphia Hearn. He served in the United States Air Force 1958-1963 as an aircraft mechanic. Gary retired from Fluor Daniels and operated Gary's Repair Shop in Hampton. He was a member of Hampton Masonic Lodge #750 and a Deacon of Union Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife of 56 years, Daisy Trivett Shingleton and his brothers Russell & Jimmy Shingleton.

Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Harmon, Hampton two sons, Wayne & wife Angie, Elizabethton and Tommy & wife Jamelle Shingleton, Valley Forge. Grandchildren: Chris Shingleton (Amanda), Holly Moore (Darin), Cole Harmon (Bri), Drew Shingleton (Morgan), Elijah Shingleton, Caley Harmon, Matthew Shingleton, Keaton Shingleton, and Levi Shingleton. Great Grandchildren: Patton Lee Shingleton and Marceline Sage Shingleton. One sister: Helen Hamilton (Freddie). Special friend/lunch buddy, James Thorpe.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday September 7, 202 at Union Baptist Church with Rev. James Bentley officiating. Grave side Service and Interment will be following the service at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from his Masonic Brethren. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. Friends may also visit family at his daughter, Becky Harmon's home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Union Baptist Church. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to Gary Glover, Earl Taylor, VA Mountain Home hemoc/oncology center, Gentiva nurses, Grace Wade and Penny Whitehead.
