Obituary

Gary Carr, 72, of Bluff City Tennessee passed away on December 16, 2023 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Gary was born in Elizabethton on October 5, 1951 but had lived his entire life in Bluff City. He was a graduate of Sullivan East High School.

Gary was the owner of D&G Foriegn Auto Parts in Johnson City, TN for 19 years.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two grandchildren.  He also loved golf and often served others by mowing their lawns.  He was also a member of Bunker Hill Christian Church.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Pearl (Bullock) Carr; brothers: Ralph, Loni, W.J., Ivan (Sam); sisters: Edna Smith, Jean Perry, Pauline Campbell, Jewel Blevins, and Molly Caldwell.

Gary is survived by his loving wife Susan Nave Carr, they were married for 47 years, they got married June 24, 1977, Son: Brooke Carr, Daughter: Tara O'Dell and husband Andy; grandchildren: Conan James and Laura Kate O'Dell; brothers: Bud and Terry Carr; sisters: Joann Smith, Velma Hicks, Betty Rutherford, Glennie Asher and numerous nieces and nephews.  Also, his special " Golf Buddies."


Graveside Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Grant Foster, Minister officiating. Burial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Bunker Hill Christian Church, 490 Bunker Hill Road, Bluff City, Tenn. 37618 . The family of Gary Carr wishes to thank the ICU nurses at Franklin Woods Hospital, the ICU nurses at the Johnson Medical Center, Dr. Floresguerra, and the other doctors and residents involved in his care.  Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
