Evalena Hicks Harmon, 83, Banner Elk, North Carolina passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 at her residence. She was born in Avery County, North Carolina to the late Plato & Nina Fields Hicks. Evalena was a graduate of Cranberry High School. She was a CNA, her first employment was at Cannon Memorial Hospital, she cooked for a number of years at the Grandfather Home for Children and retired from Life Care of Banner Elk. She was a member of the Newland Church of Jesus Christ. Her hobbys were gardening and sewing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Earnest Arthur Harmon who passed away September 13, 2022, by a son: Steven Allen Harmon, by a sister: Eula Ward and a brother: Jim Hicks.

Survivors include Three Children: Timothy Randall Harmon and Arthur Douglas Harmon both of the home and Belinda Harmon (Adrian) Goins, Boone, North Carolina. Two Grandchildren: Nathan Goins and Erica Wayland. One Sister: Phyllis Potter, Elk Park, NC.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2023 in the Newland Church of Jesus Christ with Pastor Dave Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Newland Church of Jesus Christ Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
