Obituary

Eva Sue Smith Grindstaff, 74, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026 at her residence. She was born August 3, 1952 in Butler to the late Ollie & Helen McQueen Smith. She was retired from East Tennessee State University. She loved being a housewife and was an animal lover. She was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Joyce Anderson, two brothers: Bill Smith and Richard A.”Tony” Smith and his wife Elizabeth “Libby” and a nephew: Richard Anderson.

Survivors include her husband of 36 years: Eugene Grindstaff. A Step-Son: Carson Eric (Lisa) Grindstaff. Step-Grandchildren: Michael and Aaron Grindstaff. Step-Great Grandchildren: Lucas and Owen Grindstaff. Her Brothers-in-Law: Paul Anderson, Gary & Carolyn Grindstaff, Her Sisters-in-Law: Verta Smith and Kathleen Crowe. Her special buddy “TT” and her Parrot “Barney”.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2026 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
