Obituary

Carolyn Reece Kyte, 78, Butler, went to be with her Lord, June 7, 2024 at her residence. A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late M.B. & Frances Lewis Reece. Carolyn loved to sew, work in her garden, and flowers and loved her chicken. She was a member of Butler Chapter # 218 Order of Eastern Star. The Butler Ruritan Club. She was a member of Little Doe Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Roland Reece who passed away July 16, 2023.

Survivors include her husband of 60 plus years, Tom Kyte. Two Children: Scotty (Susan) Kyte and Sharon (David) Tipton. Two Grandchildren: Cynthia Kyte and T.R. (Amy) Kyte. Five Great Grandchildren: Sadie, Jaiden, Corbin, James & Ava. One Sister: Judy (J.W.) Shew. Two Brothers: Terry Reece and Vroman (Reneta) Reece. Her Sister-In-Law: Brenda Arnold Reece. Several nieces & nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service for Carolyn will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Little Doe Baptist Church with Pastor Kreg Smith and Pastor Marty Trivette officiating. Interment will follow in the Kyte Family Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Bobby Stout, Rick Snyder, Lynn Snyder, T.R. Kyte, David Tipton, Terry Potter, Phillip Garver and Paul Campbell. Honorary Pallbearers will be her Church Family, Members of the Butler Volunteer Fire Department and employees of the Shoun Lumber Company. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, members of the Centerwell Home Health and Ballad Home Health. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Little Doe Baptist Church prior to the service. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be conducted by Butler Chapter # 218, Order of Eastern Star following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla St., Mountain City, Tenn. 37683 or the Butler Volunteer Fire Department, 291 Piercetown Road, Butler, Tenn. 37640.
