Eddie Nelson Roark, 79, Roan Mountain, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at his residence. He was born August 21, 1946 to the late William Edward & Nell Shell Roark. Eddie was a 1964 graduate of Cloudland High School, and received a Bachelor Degree from East Tennessee State College. He was a retired school teacher, having taught at Cloudland High School for 37 years. He was a member of the Roan Mountain Citizens Club and the Magill Memorial Presbyterian Church where he served as a Elder. He was a story teller, loved to read and loved to travel.
Survivors include The Love of His Life, his wife of 58 years: Patricia Henson Roark. Three Children: Eric Nelson and Victor Lagoa, Autumn LeAnn Townsend and Johnathan and Kerri Elizabeth Sudderth and Levin. Two Grandchildren: Brayden Townsend and Fifer Sudderth. Sister: Bennie Katherine Buchanan, Brother: Gerald Roark and Helen. His Brothers in law: Allen and Sandra Henson and Arland and Kathy Henson. Several nieces and nephews.
A Service to Celebrate the life of Eddie will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025 in Magill Memorial Presbyterian Church with Dr. Martin Christian and Rev. Gloria Baird officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service Saturday. Music will be by the Mountain Rose. Interment will follow in the Stockton Cemetery with Jon Shell, Piper. Active Pallbearers will be: Stevie Buchanan, Scott Roark, Brad Roark, Matthew McKinney, John Starnes, Drew Henson, John Townsend and Levin Suddenth . Honorary Pallbearers will be; Teachers and former teachers and former students of Cloudland High School, his church family, his care givers the staff of Gentiva Hospice, William Hughes and Cindy Hoilman.
