ROAN MOUNTAIN

Obituary

Dorothy Marie Hagie, 95, Roan Mountain went home to be with her Lord, Friday November 8, 2024 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Wilson and Elizabeth Caldwell Freeman. She found Jesus at a young age and she lived her life dedicated to God and his word. She loved music and taught herself to play a guitar when she was a young teenager. She had a beautiful alto voice and sang with the Crabtree Quartet. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Roan Mountain and she loved serving in anyway she could. She taught a women's Sunday School Class and she loved singing in the choir. She was a fun-loving, compassionate and a very determined woman. She loved people with all her heart. Home was a fun and happy place, filled with joy, laughter, music and plenty of home cooked meals. She baby set her first grandson, Chad for 7 years: then was blessed to keep Hope and Wade Boone, whom she loved dearly. She worked at Holiday Inn in Banner Elk, North Carolina for thirteen years in housekeeping, then was promoted to front desk. She was a faithful wife, a caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother and such a great friend. Well done thy good and faithful servant; our lives have been so blessed by knowing you; we will see you soon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her sisters: Willie Taylor, Maxie Arwood, Mildred Stout, Mary Belle Lyons and one brother: Blaine Freeman.

Surviving are her son: Michael Wayne Hagie and his wife Linda of Roan Mountain, her daughter: Debbie Hagie Whitson and her husband Terry of Kingsport. Her Three Grandchildren: Michael Chad Hagie and his wife: Kari of Elk Park, N.C., Jered Marc Whitson, Knoxville, Tn., DeAnna Whitson Marshall and her husband Eric of Church Hill.
