Donald Gene Emmert, 52, Jonesborough, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at his residence. He was a Carter County native. Donald was a 1980 graduate of Happy Valley High School and attended East Tennessee State University. He was retired due to disability as a Truck Driver with Reinhart Food Service, Johnson City. His hobbies were Comic Books, Slot Cars and Star Trek. Donald was a member of the West Side Church of Christ, Jonesborough. He was preceded in death by his father: Roy G. Emmert, August 30, 1990 and a sister: Renee Birchfield.
Survivors include his children: Terrence Gene Emmert, and Janey Tasha Emmert both of the home. His Mother: Phyllis Sarten Reece, Seminole, Florida. Three Sisters: Sharon Marie Tipton, Jonesborough , Kristen Colon, Jacksonville, Florida and Robin Causby, Grandfather Mountain, North Carolina. His Paternal Grandmother: Lulean Emmert, Elizabethton. His special friend: Angie Hughes. Several nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. John Wade, Minister officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 in Washington County Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday will be: Terrence Emmert, Joey Hunt, Dean Walser, Keith Tipton, Robbie Baird, Randy Tunnell, Butch Massey and Adam Crain. Honorary Pallbearers will be Co-Workers of Reinhart Food Service. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the Staff of the Cancer Treatment Center of America, Zion, Illinois, The Staff of 2nd & 3rd Floors of Franklin Woods Hospital, his special friend and nurse Dean Walser, John & Karen Hunt, Joe Fillers and special Thanks for all the people that have prayed for Don during his illness. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday prior to the funeral service. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday.
