Obituary

Dayton Wayne "Butch" Blevins, 68, was born March 25, 1957, to Rosa Lee Redd and Paul Edward Blevins. He went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2026 at his home unexpectedly.

Dayton, known as "Butch," was a devoted Christian man whose faith guided his life. He was a loving husband, the best dad, and a proud papaw. His family was his greatest blessing, and he poured his love into every role he held.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jimmy Blevins, Daniel Blevins, and Nephew Chris Blevins.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 30 years, Tammy Lynette Blevins; his sister, Glenda "Sissy" Buckles; his son, Kenny Blevins; his daughter, Amanda Barrett, and her husband, Garfield Barrett; and his stepson, Steven Oliver, and wife, Brittany. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew Proffit; Dylan Barrett and wife, Kelsey; Makayla "Katie" Barrett; and Olivia Lethcoe; and his great-grandchildren, Samuel Barrett, Jackson Proffitt, Harper Proffitt, and Bentley Proffitt. Dayton is further survived by his best friend, Mark Riddle, with whom he shared many years of friendship, as well as many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

Butch had a passion for coaching and mentoring youth. He coached baseball, football, and basketball, dedicating more than 16 years to the Carter County Little League. Through coaching, he shaped not only athletes but young lives, teaching teamwork, discipline, and character. Dayton Wayne "Butch" Blevins will be remembered for his strong faith, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family and community.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Butch will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, February 09, 2026 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Charles Pearce, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Garland Cemetery; friends and family are requested to be at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. to go in procession. Pallbearers will be Kenny Blevins, Steven Oliver, Garfield Barrett, Dylan Barrett, & Jeremy Blevins, others will be chosen from family. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mark Riddle.
