ROAN MOUNTAIN

Obituary

Michael “Mouse” Boone, born November 4, 1955, passed peacefully in his sleep on May 14, 2026. To know Mike was to know a kind, honest, and generous man. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He treated everyone with kindness, respect, and genuine care. He was one of the few truly honest mechanics---the kind people trusted without question. No one ever had a bad thing to say about him. The phrase “good man” is synonymous with Mike Boone.

Mike faced his battle with Multiple Myeloma with remarkable strength and faith. His trust in God carried him, giving him coursage, peace, and hope. Even during his hardest days, he continued to smile, joke, and lift the spirits of others with his sense of humor

He had a love for the simple things in life. He spent years collecting Sinclair and Coca-Cola antiques and old Volkswagens. Mike could often be found tinkering on an old VW or fixing something around the house. He had an incredible gift for working with his hands. Whether it was building furniture, constructing a shed, or fixing what others thought was beyond repair, Mike had the rare ability to create something meaningful out of almost anything.

He will be remembered for the joy he brought into every room.

Mike leaves behind family, friends, and a community who loved him deeply and will miss him beyond words. Though his earthly work is done, the memories he created, the lives he touched, and the faith he lived by will continue on in all who knew him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, John and Irabelle Boone, brothers Johnny and Jim Boone, sister-in-l;aw Martha Boone, Brothers-in-law Mark and Dee Haynes. Beloved Mother-in-law: Earline Haynes.

Hi is survived by his wife of 36 years, Melesia (Missy) Boone. Mike’s doctors said her love and care were what brought him through two bouts of Multiple Myeloma, Amputation of his leg and three shoulder surgeries. Johnson, Brittany (Chase) Boone, Brooke (Joshua) Crawford, Emrie (Dalton) Vines, Israel Boone, Johnathan and Nick (Jessica) Boone, Asley (Hunter) and Dawson (Emily) Haynes, Allison (Devin) Kopp. “Best friend a man could ever have” Chris Barnett, Lori Klinger who’s love and support were invaluable.
