Obituary

Conway Leonard Markland, 85, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024 in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Will & Martha Lipps Markland. He served in the United States Army. Conway was a retired Auto Mechanic. He loved to read his Bible and cook. He was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Brenda Sue Markland who passed away November 19, 2021, by a brother: Caldwell Markland and a sister: Pansy Smith.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law: Connie & Stacy Browning, Chuckey, Tenn. Two Grandchildren: Ashton Browning and Cooper Browning. One Sister: Nora Davis. Several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2024 in the Mountain Home Cemetery (Historic Section) with Pastor Nick Colbaugh officiating.  Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Hospice Staff at the VA Hospital for the kindness that was shown to him.
