Clay Stevens, 94, Hampton passed away Friday, September 26, 2025 in the James H. Quillen VA. Medical Center. He was born May 3, 1931 in Hampton to the late Walter and Verna Hyder Stevens. He served in the United States Army where he received the rank of Sgt. He had traveled all over the world. He was retired from Scalfs fishing Hatchery. He also had worked in Michigan in the Automobile Industry. He loved music, having played the piano and guitar, he sang in churches in the five state area and also made records. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Wesley, Virgil, Hershel and two sisters: Beulah King and Eula Ellison.
Survivors include Two Brothers: Douglas and David Stevens and One Sister: Sandra Morgan. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2025 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in the Stevens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. Military Honors will be provided by Veterans Honor Guard of the Tricities. Active Pallbearers will be: William Stevens, Hershel Stevens, Chase Blackwell, Drew Blackwell, Stone Seiber and Timothy Campbell. The family would like to express a special thank you to his care givers: Douglas Stevens, William Stevens, Hershel Stevens, Jennifer Campbell, Beth Stevens and Timothy Campbell, also the staff at James H.
