Chester Wayne Brown, Sr. 92, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 at his residence. He was born May 4, 1932 in Alvarado, Virginia to the late Layton David & Tessie Bentley Brown. He served in the United States Army. He retired from Mapes Piano String Company. He was also a Bus Driver for the Yellow Coach Bus Co., Carter County School Bus and Senior Citizens Bus for many years. and a Truck Driver. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Darlene Mullins, three sisters and one brother. Chester was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years Kay Smith Brown. Five Children: Wayne (Debra) Brown, Blountville, Chestalene Myers, Blountville, David (Kristia) Brown, Johnson City, Sheri Phillips, Elizabethton, and a step-son: Johnny (Crystal) Birchfield, Elizabethton. 13 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren and one on the way. One Sister: Barbara (Tony) Ruiz, Bristol. Several nieces and nephews. His four legged best friend "Diesel".
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating. Music by Bobby Smith and Chrystie Kyte. Interment with follow in the Smith Family Cemetery with Rev. Jake Howell officiating. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Ruiz, Jerry and Leonard Buckles and Mack Wayne Pierce. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Staff of Amedisys Hospice including, Melissa, Megan, Heather and Nora. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
