Obituary

Charles Wayne Nave born February 9, 1948, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday, May 4th at home surrounded by his family. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather with a strong faith. He was a friend to many and loved his family and friends dearly. He will be deeply missed.

Charles was born in Elizabethton, TN. He followed in his father’s footsteps and became an electrician and maintenance mechanic. He retired from Nuclear Fuel in Erwin. He was owner of Mountain Refrigeration Service and Repair. He was a member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ and the Watauga No. 622 chapter of the Masons. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed traveling.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Dayton and Sarah Sheffield and Campbell and Katherine Nave, his parents Ralph and Iva Nave and his sister, Norma Faye Baumgardner.

Charles is survived by his wife of 28 years, Nelda Pierce Nave, his children Phyllis Nave Platt (Chris) of Shelbyville, KY, Phillip Nave (Barbara) of Elizabethton, Samuel Nave (Johanna) of Dandridge, TN, Jeremy Nave (Stacey) of Elizabethton, his step-children Becky Stout (Gregory) of Watauga, and Ronald Verran (Renee) of Watauga and the mother of his children Margaret Herman. He has 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren with one due in August.

Honorary pallbearers: Willard Bowers, Wesley Brown and Elders and Deacons of Elizabethton Church of Christ

Visitation will be held at Elizabethton Church of Christ from 10 am – 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 09, 2026 followed by the funeral service at 12:00 noon. Pastor Todd Houston will officiate. Music will be provided by the Elizabethton Church of Christ. Graveside service and burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery on Stoney Creek.
