Charles Hubert “Chuck” Hyder IV, 74, Elizabethton went home to be with his Lord Thursday, October 1, 2026 in Pigeon Forge. He was born April 9, 1952 in Alton, Illinois to the late Charles Hubert Hyder III and Alice Gauf Hyder. He had lived most of his life in Carter County. He was a 1972 graduate of Elizabethton High School and East Tennessee State University. He was a Land Surveyor. He was a big football fan and loved his work. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Chad Hyder and a brother: Roy Hyder. He was a member of Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years: Elberta Lyons Hyder. His 2nd Mother: Zetta Hyder. A Sister: Sarah Blair. Several nieces, nephews & cousins. His Sisters-In-Law: Teresa Brindle and Dawana Rainbolt. His Brother-in-Law: Randy (Carol) Lyons.
A Service to Celebrate the life of Chuck will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2026 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rusty Verran officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehead Cemetery with Patrick Kelly officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be: His Church, Elizabethton High School Class of 1972 and Mike Carter, Randy Lyons, Lee White, Bernie Taylor, David Reed, Patrick Kelly and his many friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
