Carolyn Hope Pierce, 79, Elizabethton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 23, 2026 in the Life Care Center of Gray surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Fred Sexton and Hazel McGee Matherly. was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Dallas Pierce, her sisters: Jessie Davis, JoAnn Hickman Cantrell and Gail Tolley and an infant brother: Glenn. She enjoyed spending time with family, collecting recipes and baking cakes and making an assortment of desserts. She was a member of TOPS Club for many years where she made numerous friends and enjoyed going on many memorable trips

Survivors include a son: Gary (Dauphine) Pierce of San Antonio, Texas, a daughter: Lisa (Mike) Wells, Gray. Her Grandsons: Evan (Elizabeth) Wells and Andrew Wells and One Great Grandson: Hudson Wells.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2026 in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery with Pastor Doug Hinshaw officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the graveside service. The family would like to thank the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
