Burnie Hill, 84, of Hampton, passed away on December 17, 2025. Burnie was a native of Carter County and the son of the late James and Sudie Mae Hill. Burnie was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Burnie had a wonderful work ethic and always provided for his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman with an extensive knowledge of and passion for the outdoors. Burnie was a member of Fairview Free Will Baptist Church, Hampton. Burnie served in the Army National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twelve siblings.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years: Faye Hill, his son Brian Hill (Jonda), his grandchildren: Annalee and Wyatt Hill whom he loved and cherished, his sister: Lola Johnson, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Whitehead and Pastor James Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehead Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be nephews and those chosen from attendees. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Tolley, David Tolley, Ray Arnett, Lewis Honeycutt, Richard Hyder, and Richard Hill. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, Burnie asked that you consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tn. 38101-9, which was a cause dear to his heart. As a monetary alternative, it would make Burnie's heart happy if you take your child/grandchild fishing or hunting.
