Burless Anderson Shaffer, 89, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born June 27, 1937 in Butler to the late Earl D. & Estle Gregg Anderson. She loved being a homemaker, loved to sew and listen to Blue Grass Music. She attended Valley Forge House of Prayer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry E. Shaffer who passed away June 13, 2000, by three sisters: Lois Matherly, Willis Guy and Louise Watson and her sister-in-law: Joyce Anderson and her brother: Bud Anderson.

Survivors include Five Children: Katrina (Bill) Prendergast, Elaine (Rick) Matherly, Terry Shaffer, Eddie Shaffer and Steve (Cheri) Shaffer. Her Brothers: Paul Anderson, Jim Anderson, and Raymond Anderson. Her Grandchildren: Ben Prendergast, Bryan Shaffer, Emily Townsend, Jake Shaffer and Robert Shaffer and her special friend: Judy Barnett. Several Great Grandchildren.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2026 in the Matherly Cemetery, Highway 67, Butler with Mr. Tim Simerly officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Valley Forge House of Prayer. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50a.m. Tuesday.
