Bobby Lee Scalf, 76, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026 at the Hermitage Health Center. He was born May 24, 1950 in Elizabethton to the late Harold and Edith Smith Scalf. Bobby attended Elizabethton High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Bobby had been in law enforcement for several years, having worked at Carter County Sheriff Department, Unicoi County Sheriff Department, Watauga Police Department and Bluff City Police Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother: Lena Scalf. And two brothers, Paul Scalf and Bill Fraley and Two Sisters: Annie Stines and Sharon Thomas.
Survivors include his wife: Barbara Knight Scalf. Five Children: Bobby Lee Scalf, II, Troy Steven Scalf, Crystal Lynn Cline, Misty Marie Coffelt and Timothy Milton Duff. 12 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Three Brothers: James “Jim” Scalf, Delaney (Pam) Scalf and Scotty Scalf. Two Sisters; Robin (Vance) Johnson, and Drema (Thomas) West. Several nieces and nephews including three special nephews: Mike Fraley, Jamie “Kojac” Thomas and Brian Fraley.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2026 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Misty Coffelt officiating. Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturdy, July 18, 2026 in Highland Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Vance Johnson, Jamie Thomas, Jeff Winters, Thomas West, Mike Fraley, and Timothy Duff. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home prior to the service. The family would like to thank the staff of Hermitage Health and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care given to Bobby. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
