Obituary

Bobby Lee Huffman, 71, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born August 10, 1951 to the late Glenn & Viola Cook Huffman. He was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Bobby was retired as Captain from the Carter County Sheriff Department after 35 years of service. He loved fishing and being in the Bass Tournaments. He was a member of Watauga Flats Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Kathy Mae Vaughn Huffman, a great grandson, Hayden Rains, one brother: Ronnie Huffman and five sisters: Arlene Huffman, Penny Knight, Rachel Penley, Evelyn Malone and Pamelia Huffman.

Survivors include Two Daughters: Meliny Huffman and fiance Brian Mock and Kathy (Johnny) Miller. Two Grandchildren: Kelly Rains and Samantha Shelton. Four Great Grandchildren: Ethan and Ashlyn Rains and Caylinn and Cain Shelton. Three Sisters: Loretta Huffman, Patricia Huffman and Peggy Doss. Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rusty Verran officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in the Jones Cemetery, Bluff City. Active Pallbearers will be: Brian Mock, Mike Fraley, Doug Combs, Robbie Fritts, Kenny Cornett and Eric Trivette. Honorary Pallbearers will be employee and former employees of the Carter County Sheriff Department and the Elizabethton Police Department, friends, neighbors and his fishing buddies Laverne Julian, Ron Street, J.R. Mathewes and Mike Stout. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com .
