Bobbie Jo McCall Royston, 92, Butler, went to be with her Lord Monday, July 14, 2025 at the Erwin Health Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Abingdon, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Robert McCall and Pauline Hayter Buchanan. She was an LPN. She was employed at the Johnson County Community Hospital for several years and also the Johnson County School System as a Nurse. Jo loved to read, work in her flowers and cross word puzzles. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Robert "Bob" Royston who passed away November 13, 2011. He had served as pastor of Little Doe Baptist Church for several years. She was also preceded in death by a grandson: Kevin Lewis, also two brothers: Bill McCall and Danny McCall.
Survivors include her children: Sandy Lewis, Bobby (Jeannie) Royston and Tim Royston. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Two Sisters: Kaye (Don) Hammock and Martha Sue (Darryl) Garrison. Two Brothers: Ronnie (Susan) McCall and Mike (Kathy) McCall. Several nieces and nephews.
A Service to Celebrate the life of Jo will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025 in the Little Doe Baptist Church with Pastor Kreg Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Springs Cemetery. Music will be provided by the Church Choir. Active Pallbearers will be: Rob Royston, Michael Lewis, Buddy Lewis, Jason Mills, Jacob McGlamery, Chase McGlamery and Brian Whitehead. Honorary Pallbearers will be the church family of Little Doe Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m.Saturday at the church prior to the service. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Erwin Health Care for the excellent care she received during her stay there.
