Bobbie Kay Watson Lewis, age 75, of Johson City, TN, went to be with her Lord on July 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Bobbie who was born March 10, 1949 was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmomma and great-grandmomma. She was a follower of God and loved and served Him faithfully from early childhood.
She had a long career at East Tennessee State University for almost 40 years. She was respected by colleagues for her knowledge and kindness, and was frequently called on for help even after her retirement.
Bobbie loved to serve others and did so often. She was the pianist/organist at Buffalo Valley Christian Church in Johnson City, where she was a faithful member for many, many years. She filled many roles throughout the years in the Ladies Circle, whose purpose was to serve the church members, their families, and the community. She received the Leaders in Christian Service award from Milligan College while working as a financial analyst in ETSU's Clemmer College of Education. She also served as a member of the ETSU Retirees Association for several years.
Bobbie is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 56 years, Larry L. Lewis of Johnson City, two daughters, Mollie Canon (Jeff) of Erwin and Laura Berry (Charles) of Unicoi, one sister, Becky Jennings (Gary) (Johnson City), seven grandchildren: Daniel Belisle (McKenzie) (Johnson City); Emilie Belisle (Jonesborough); Caleb Berry (Seneca, SC); Vickie Berry (Kingsport); Noah Wagner (Deanna) (Bonifay, FL); Samuel Berry (Unicoi); and Luke Berry, (Unicoi); great grand-child Judah Wagner (Bonifay, FL); several nieces and nephews, and dear friend Jane Byrd (Johnson City). Bobbie was proceeded in death by both her parents, Robert and Kate Watson of Johnson City.
Pallbearers are Charles Berry, Jeff Canon, Caleb Berry, Daniel Belisle, Samuel Berry, Luke Berry, Andy Jennings, and Michael Lewis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Louis Thompson, Chad Bogart and Nathan Jennings
There will be a receiving of friends at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Elizabethton, TN on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 5 to 7pm with a Celebration of Life service immediately following, Pastor James Noah Wagner and Pastor Roland Whittemore officiating. Music will be by Elisa Comer, Pianist, Bobby McGee, Soloist and Alexis Taylor, Soloist. Interment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City, TN, on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 2 p.m. Family and Friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:15 pm to go in procession to the cemetery.
