Barbara Jean Hartley, 80, of Elizabethton, passed away at her home unexpectedly, on Sunday, October 27, 2024. Barbara was a Carter County native and was the daughter of the late Ed and Martha Allen Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hartley, of 48 years. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Betty Stevens and Judy Hansford and also a brother, Jimmy Allen. She was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. Barbara was a faithful member of By Faith Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include: Her sons, Dale Hartley of Hampton and Dana Hartley of Elizabethton. Her grandchildren, Justin Hartley of Alaska, Jason Hartley of Elizabethton, and Jennifer Shephard of Elizabethton (and husband Zachary Shephard). Three great grandchildren, Carly Hartley of Bristol and Gabriella and Magnolia Shephard of Elizabethton. One sister, Eddy Tolley of Hampton and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held on Friday, November 01, 2024 at 8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Randy English, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Prior to the service.
