Barbara Ann Proffitt Bowers, 88, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas & Julia Katherine Taylor Proffitt. She was a graduate of Unaka High School. She was a homemaker and loved to cook. Barbara was a member of Stoney Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Floyd Bowers, a Grandson: Joseph Daniel Campbell and two sisters: Lorraine Taylor and Izetta Proffitt.

Survivors include two daughters: Julie Yankee and Sherry Campbell. One son-in-law, Myron Yankee.  Five Grandchildren: Tony Taylor, Jr. (Jessica), Jaclyn Gifford, Jessie Cowden (Jordan), Savannah Yankee and Dylan Yankee. Eight Great Grandchildren: Makayla Taylor, Mason Taylor, Maddux Taylor, Dalton Powell, Delilah Powell, Cadence Buttars, Damien Cowden, and Dahlia Cowden. One Sister: Hildred Robinson, Nicholsville, Kentucky.

A visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel at 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 08, 2023. Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2023 at Happy  Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating.
